Palo Alto County Sesquicentennial Celebration Being Planned

Palo Alto County and its nine towns will be celebrating 150 years over the Fourth of July weekend in 2008. While plans are still in the making, mark your calendar now for July 4, 5 and 6th!

Coinciding with the Sesquicentennial will be the All Schools Reunion, the Fly-In Breakfast and our nation’s Independence Day.

Events planned thus far include: parade, antique window displays, fire department water fights, time capsule, community bus tours, quilt show, boat parade, fireworks, hog roast, pageant, live radio theatre, teen dance, kids games, park vendors and commemorative t-shirts. Many other ideas are still being developed.

The Celebration committee continues to look for ideas, committee chairs and committee members. To volunteer please call Cecilia Miller at the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce office at 712-852-2283.
