Kossuth / Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, along with the Ag Committee and area ag-related businesses, are hosting an Ag Energy Day on Thursday, March 13th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and will include lunch.
The event will feature topics on ISU’s Bioeconomy Initiative, dairy digesters, ILCC’s wind energy program, Jefferson Wind Energy Project, energy grant programs, and updates from several local businesses. Guest speakers include Dr. Robert Brown, Director of Bioeconomy Institute, Iowa State University; Joe Colletti, Senior Associate Dean, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, Iowa State University; Danny Kluthe, owner of OLean Energy; Jim Sturdevant, Director of POET’s Project LIBERTY; Mike Schmidt, Instructor for Wind Energy Program, Iowa Lakes Community College; Chris Mercer, USDA Rural Development; Bill Sutton, Hardin HilltopWind Developer; Dave Rosenmeyer, General Manager of East Fork Biodiesel; and Ron Sikora, Farmers Corrugated Solutions.
Brochures featuring highlights of the event will be available at area cooperatives, banks, implement dealerships, Tom Eischen Sales, and ISU Extension Offices in Algona and Emmetsburg. A registration form will be included in the brochure which can be filled out and mailed along with a check made payable to Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, 106 S. Individuals may also register at the door the day of the event. Cost for the event is $13.50 per person through Feb. 29th. After March 1st, the registration fee will be $15.00.
